Studying the Crusades with Inaccurate Movies

I have a history midterm tomorrow. Allow me to elaborate; I have a history of the crusade midterm tomorrow concerning European-Middle Eastern politics and battles in the late 11th and early 12th century. Since Thursday morning at 7 am I have been carrying around with me a study guide of growing volume.

What a girl needs right now is a movie, but not any movie. I just put in Kingdom of Heaven (2005). Okay, it’s about the 3rd Crusade, and my test is only over the 1st and 2nd. But David Thewlis plays a hospitaler, and I know that they were established in Jerusalem in 1123 before the 1st crusade and, after Jerusalem was conquered by the Franks, they were given the responsibility of protecting the Holy City in 1099. (I didn’t even have to look at my notes for that one!)

So I’m watching Liam NeesonOrlando Bloom, and the hottie who played Poseidon in  Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (Kevin McKidd) and calling it studying. Smart? I like to think so.
